Thank You for Your Feedback!

FNS recently conducted a survey to seek voluntary feedback from state agencies and school food authorities that utilize USDA Foods to better understand how USDA Foods in Schools Product Information Sheets and the USDA Foods Database are currently being used and identify opportunities for improvement.

We had an overwhelming response from over 1,600 individuals representing 50 states and territories! Thank you to all those who took the time to complete the survey. We greatly appreciate your time and value your feedback. We will be analyzing the responses to identify opportunities to improve both resources and ensure USDA Foods product information is shared in a way that is most useful for recipients.

While the survey officially closed on April 18, 2025, we continue to welcome feedback at USDAFoods@usda.gov

Where to Find USDA Foods Product Information

Want to know more about what’s in your USDA Foods? Check out USDA Foods in Schools Product Information Sheets and the USDA Foods Database.

USDA Foods in Schools Product Information Sheets provide a basic overview of USDA Foods product information including a product description, crediting and yield information, culinary tips, and nutrition information. The Nutrition Facts provided on Product Information Sheets is a compilation of multiple vendors’ information and could differ slightly from the actual product received. These can be useful in finding general information about USDA Foods products but do not provide specific details, such as allergens or ingredients.

The USDA Foods Database is a newer resource that provides access to up-to-date vendor-specific nutrition, allergen, and ingredient information for direct delivered USDA Foods. The USDA Foods Database has similar information to the Product Information Sheets but provides additional details that are unique to each vendor, such as nutrient, allergen, ingredient, and certification information. Additional products and vendors are added to the database each month so make sure to check back on this resource for new information.

Technology Synopsis

Recent Web Based Supply Chain Management (WBSCM) Updates

The March and April WBSCM releases included the following updates:

  • New system validations and error messages to identify duplicate products at the line-item level and duplicate orders at the header level when creating and modifying multi-food orders. Users can fix the errors before updating the shopping cart or finalizing the order.
    • Users can now opt out of receiving complaint notification emails for complaints submitted by their organization. This option is accessed through the Maintain User Profile screen.
    • A bug fix to allow the Alternate RA ID field to populate on the Entitlement/Bonus Summary Report.

All monthly changes are documented in the Release Notes, which may be accessed in WBSCM at Help > Training > Release Notes.

For questions about WBSCM, please contact the WBSCM Service Desk or call (877) 927-2648.

WBSCM User Feedback Sessions

FNS hosts monthly WBSCM user feedback sessions for state and local/recipient agency users. These sessions are intended to identify challenges and opportunities for potential enhancements and future trainings in WBSCM. The meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month; the next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 2 p.m. Eastern. If you are interested in participating in future sessions, please contact Samantha Escamilla.
